real simple mop

I tend to gravitate towards the Real Simple cleaning supplies section at Target. If someone can make cleaning feel stylish + modern, I'm in. And I'll purchase.

I was due for a mop when I went to Target about a month ago. What I found: several mops. What I bought: Real Simple's Microfiber Squeeze Mop. It's my favorite cleaning utensil these days. And yes, I'm being totally serious. I love this mop. Some of the features:

*You can use it wet or dry
*The top of the mop come out and gives you a bonus scraper. You can get those sticky residues off the wood floor without using your nail
*You don't have to keep buying new yellow mopheads (!), simply unvelcro this one and throw it in the wash

It's great. Highly recommended (along with Method's wood cleaner if you have wood floors).

  1. have this mop and love it - the soft chamois layer really makes hardwoods look great! I think it workds especially well with Methods' poor on mop off wood floor cleaner.

  2. I'm glad you like it. I was always wondering if the R.S. line was a bit of a scam. But this sounds perfect. (I havne't needed a mop in a while. Just a great vacuum. Maybe soon...)

  3. Oh Kelli, I'm a fan of the Real Simple products. I think they are functional + stylish (for cleaning products). If you need a mop, this one really is the best and I've been through a bunch since I've lived with wood floors for the past 6 years.

  4. I am a [fairly] new reader to your blog (referred by Kathryn). I too love real simple products. I have a wood floor and have never been able to find a suitable mop. Thanks for the recommendation...I am so excited to go buy it!

  5. I bought this mop and two extra heads. While I really like the way it mops, I'm very, very disappointed in the quality. I tried washing two of the mop heads in the washing machine, and the glued on microfiber came off the sponge part. So, I thought that I wouldn't try washing the other one. That one came apart while I was mopping the floor the second time I used it. I wouldn't recommend spending your money on these.

  6. I had the same experience ... I've had the mop for less than 3 months and I've already gone through 3 mop heads. The microfiber part always comes off. It's too bad because otherwise it works really well.

  7. Hmmm I was thinking of buying one, but don't want it if the quality is poor! Maybe I'll get one of the Magnet Mops instead.

  8. these mops work far better than most others. I own a green cleaning company and the quality and care that it provides is outstanding. However, we cannot find them anymore. Anyone have any ideas? Target doesn't seem to be carrying them.

  9. I love the microfiber mop. But when the microfiber part came unglued from the yellow sponge, I went back to Target to buy a new one and they no longer carry this product. Where can I but another one?

  10. My husband and I also bought the Real Simple mop. Only a month later Target discontinued the product. We are unable to locate replacement mop heads for it in our town. Target refused to give us a refund because we no longer have the receipt. I find this unacceptable. Now I have had to purchase two mops from Target and one of them will be sitting in the landfill because it's totally useless! I will not be shopping at Target in the future.

  11. I love the mop. It works very well but I also have a problem where the mirco fiber comes apart from the yellow sponge. Dispite this I was hoping of getting more mop heads but for the looks of the posts they have been discontinued. I am disappointed.

  12. Just spoke to Casabella and the refills are discontinued but they are going to sell a product through Bed, Bath and Beyond that will be compatible. It will be under the Spotless brand, item #71007. She thought it would be available by 9/21. Not sure how good it will be but might be worth looking at prior to trashing the mop.
