summer parties, simplified.

Summer entertaining calls for "high on style and low on stress." I love the Summer Entertaining and Grilling Guide put out by Real Simple which highlights an all-plastic {biodegradable} brunch party.

"The spirit of summer is captured in a light, airy palette of pink, blue, and the fresh green of the centerpieces — clear plastic boxes of wheatgrass and fluttering faux butterflies."

fun Tips:

"Set Out a Basket of…
Flip-flops for guests who don’t want their heels to snag on a brick patio or sink into the grass. Or cheap sunglasses for those who’ve forgotten theirs."

"Party Favor
Sow a little inspiration: Send each guest home with a packet of seeds for flowers that attract butterflies (such as marigolds and zinnias). Tie raffia around it and tuck a faux flier from the centerpiece into the bow."

suggested Menu:

chilled sweet pea and watercress soup
{which I would replace with a delicious and easy PB & Apple Sandwich}
chicken salad with apple and basil
yellow cupcakes with lemon cream-cheese frosting
cranberry-ginger fizzes
