pleated poppy {giveaway!}

*This IS a new post, even though the birthday giveaway sign is the same:

Once upon a time, I happened upon a really great blog. It was full of style and picturesque scenes (including this kitchen that I am determined to one day re-create). Turns out, the girl behind the the pleated poppy blog is amazingly talented, and is frequently updating the pleated poppy shop with all kinds of handmade treasures.

I've been dying to get my hands on one of these petal pushers for awhile now. I can think of so many fun things to do with them. I've a list a mile long of things to accessorize with them.. headbands, jackets, bags, you get the idea.

I'm a sucker for an apron, and this one is at the top of my list. Love the turquoise and orange and the flower detail.

But don't stop there, check out all her amazing creations in the pleated poppy shop.

Today's winner will receive a $25 gift certificate. What will you choose?

magpie lovely.

Magpie lovely is one of my very favorite shops. The wide variety of handmade goods is some of the best I've seen. Think Etsy with a built in filter. Shop owner Holly Craig exclusively sells goods from independent crafters and artisans with gorgeous designs and reasonable prices.

I've put together my own Magpie lovely wish list for you to enjoy, though I'd recommend taking a few minutes to browse through all the handmade treasures yourself.

Find something you love? Enter code TT15 to receive 15% off your purchase over the next two days (Wed, Thurs). Every purchase made using that code will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate picked by Holly herself.

I'll be making my order now....

birthday ideas please.

Today is Finn's first birthday. Moving to Denver has thrown a loop in the celebrations. I'm supposed to be having a party for him this weekend. Theme suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! I'm running low on inspiration.

*Also, I'm looking to add a new feature here on T+T. Have you thrown an amazing party? One you think is worth documenting. I want to hear about it and possibly feature you and your photos. Email me (tangledandtrue@gmail.com). I can't wait to hear from you.

my favorite chocolate frosting.

One of my good friends gave me this recipe. I could seriously eat it straight out of the bowl with a spoon. It is dangerously delicious and you should try it.

Chocolate Frosting
1 cup butter softened
3/4 cup melted chocolate chips, cooled
1 to 1.5 cups powdered sugar
tsp. vanilla
milk if needed

Beat butter until smooth, add melted and cooled (though still liquid) chocolate chips. Blend in powdered sugar to desired taste and consistency. Stir in Vanilla. If too stiff add small amounts of milk to reach desired consistency.

For a lighter consistency beat vigorously.

enjoy.

In honor of my 30th birthday (coming in a few weeks) I've been working on a line-up of giveaways that highlight some of my very favorites. Keep checking back over these next few weeks and be sure to enter and tell all your friends too.. it can be your birthday gift to me :)

You all know I love downeast. They are hands down my favorite go-to clothing company. Right now they are in the middle of their 28 day style guide. They have so many fun items they've added to their collection. Allow me to introduce you to some items on my very own birthday list.

Isn't this absolutely lovely?

I love the flirty ruffles at the bottom and the fun print. It has me wishing for spring.

I actually have this cardigan and I love it. It's cute with skirts and jeans, can be casual or dressy. It's perfectly versatile. That's just what I like!

You love downeast too? Two winners win an item of their choice. What will you choose?

valentine swap.

Last night I hosted my first Valentine Swap. It was really fun, and I hope it becomes an annual event.

I've been preparing the house for a few days. Wrapping pictures in pink and red. (Ryan thinks I'm crazy)

Pink Tulips,

the chalkboard door,

paper hearts sewn together and hung from the ceiling, pink and red lights under the tablecloths,

the worlds most incredible chocolate shipped from New Hampshire, complete with lots of things to dip,

and no get together would be complete without my favorite drinks.

The Valentine's were amazing! These girls went all out.

Earrings, bookmarks, felt garlands, cards, treats and more were exchanged, we discussed our most romantic moments, funny stories and more.

You should have one yourself!

or so she says.. and an announcement.

Today I'm guest posting over at "Or So She Says..." you should definitely stop over and give me your advice, I really need it because my brain is currently very busy.

And here's why.. we're officially moving to Denver. This is an exciting career move for the big boy.. I am slowly wrapping my brain around this whole thing (it's all happening so fast, hence the brain being busy thing), but I would LOVE to hear all the wonderful things you have to say about Denver, the things you know, school recommendations, great neighborhoods to look into, preschools, dance studios, restaurants. Give me the works! I can't wait to hear and learn all you have to offer.

apple pie.

Thank you Design Mom. Thank you for reminding me about these amazing Valentine's. For a guide of easily doable Valentine's don't miss her post here. I know, she's amazing.

valentine bunting.

Do you dress up your house for Valentine's day? It's kind of impossible around here with two girls and a holiday that's colors are red and pink and uses plenty of sparkle. So we are slowly decorating...

I saw this heart bunting on sew mama sew and really liked it. I don't know that we'll get to making it this year, but it was worth book marking.

And, if you are like me and you still haven't made your child's valentine box, check out Tiffany's amazing mailboxes complete with a downloadable template. I love it!

How are you preparing to celebrate love?

toasted sesame candy chicken.

This looks so good, and I'm thinking may make it's debut at our house this evening. What better way to start the month of love than with some candy chicken?

thanks nat for the idea.
