Wizard of Oz Party!

The wonderful wizard of ...

Stella's birthday party was Saturday. I don't know what I was thinking when I scheduled it, our house is torn to shreds (literally) there is a fine layer of dust covering everything.. it's awesome. I was banking on nice weather but we woke up to SNOW on Saturday morning and by the time the party started it was a balmy 39 degrees. In the end, it all worked out, and Stella was happy, which is what is most important.

We decorated everything green, to look like the Emerald City.

My mom painted a mural on our mirror, it was quite a hit!

On the menu, Stella's choice of macaroni (to look like the yellow brick road) pb&j on WHITE bread, rainbow jell-o. She wanted rainbow chip cupcakes.. I tried to doctor them a bit, but they still tasted like rainbow chip. Oh well.

Here's Dorothy, pre - having her hair done (thanks Jenni for loaning the dress!)

Grandma read the Wizard of Oz to the girls so they knew the story before we started the games and favors.

Pin the heart on the tinman (this is the only game we have a picture of, we also did freeze dances, memory quiz, we made rainbow bracelets out of twizzlers, etc).

We had Dorothy baskets for all the girls. After each game they collected something that represented a different character in the Wizard of Oz.

The basket was for Toto, the napkin was for Dorothy

The courage medal was for the Lion, the diploma for the Scarecrow, the Lollipops for the Munchkins, the green ring pop for the Wizard, bubbles for Glinda, and the heart necklace for the Tinman.

I didn't get everything done, that I'd wanted to, but considering all the circumstances, and all the help from multiple people I think it turned out really well!

Happy Birthday to the best five year old I know!

30th Old Man Party!

This might have been the greatest party ever. Only because of some friends, who put everything they had into making this a birthday to remember.

8:00 AM: Some grumpy old men show up at the door to welcome Ryan into his life as an old man. (I have clothes ready and waiting for him, but he doesn't know it)

These grumpy old men are not so great at taking pictures, but they sweep Ryan off to breakfast at the Village Inn, and then to a round of golf.

Yes, they really golfed dressed in their old man gear.

For dinner the wives dress up as old women, and we head off to where else but…

The Country Buffet, where these hot old women are waiting for us.
(how could you not love these two? thank you girls for your efforts in making this a night to remember.)

Some of our friends were so smart and reserved the banquet room, because there is no where better to celebrate, and a feast we had. mmm mmm good. I'm sure it was Ryans' idea of the perfect birthday dinner.
(Pictured above was the crowd favorite at the Country Buffet with her sponge curlers)

We finally finished off the night, with BINGO of course...

Yes, we even had a real bingo cage and it was awesome. I wish you could have seen the prizes. We didn't take pictures of those. (denture cream, lysol, depends, personal hair trimmer, jumbo crosswords, kleenex..)

The cake was amazing. The pictures don't even do it justice, check out those layers of pure deliciousness.

Such a fun night! I'm pretty sure it made entering his 30's a day he'll never forget.

Christmas Ideas.

While I am struggling to come up with ideas for all the people on my gift list this year, I seem to be having no problem coming up with all kinds of things that I would love to see under the tree for myself. This isn't typical, and while I know the majority of these will not be under the tree waiting for me, I thought it would be fun to post these ideas in the event you are looking for something for your own special someone. I'd love to hear your wish list as well. Maybe it will help me out in my on going search for the perfect gift for the people on my list.

I saw these in Anthropologie earlier this week. I loved them and thought they would be great in addition to or an alternative to the ever popular..

clothbound penguin classics that I also would love to have on every bookshelf of my house.

This instax camera has been on my wish list for some time. I love the mini polaroid style photos and that the instant gratification they provide.

My wallet is looking a little shabby these days. I am in love the the turquoise hobo although they are pretty hard to find.

Either of these prints would be a fun addition to our bathroom we just finished or one of the girls rooms. The beach is in my blood and I miss it dearly.

What girl wouldn't love a ring?

These tear drop earrings also caught my eye. I love the color.

Perfect addition to any girls winter footwear wardrobe.

These just make me smile.

Feel free to leave your own wish list! Maybe tomorrow I'll post my "Ryan" ideas :)

and i'm back.

After a series of unfortunate events, my domain name was sold out from underneath me. Truth be told, it was my fault. Tangled and True has been on the back burner while I've adjusted to life with a 4th child and spent the last 16 months remodeling our home. After multiple inquiries from friends and readers, I've spent the evening transferring everything over to this address. I'm a little rusty and I can't promise consistent updates, but I'm excited to be back in the game.

found.

Just getting my feet wet again. When I found these, I couldn't help but post them. I want to design a whole room around them. I think they are simple and intriguing. What do you think?

an apology.

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile. We just finished an addition over our family room, and I finally feel like I can breath again. I will share pictures of the girls new room one of these days, but I still have a few finishing touches to complete.

When the girls moved rooms, Finn moved rooms (to their old room) opening up a room for the new baby. So I've been day dreaming of all kinds of fun kids spaces.

Here are some things I've been pinning to share with you:

I fell in love with this headboard seen on the happy home, and am trying to convince Ryan to build one for Finn's new big boy room.

You all know I love a great party, and this one from call me badger is not only amazing.. it only cost $54!! Thanks to my cute friend Natalie for emailing me the link!

This quote seen on Modern Hepburn had Ryan and I cracking up. I love it!

I loved these necklaces as soon as I saw them. The girls seriously need one. Ok I don't know about need, but anyway.

I am really wishing I could re-create this kids carwash seen on Hip Hip Hooray. It looks like so much fun!

I was at Nordstrom last night and saw these TOMS for the girls. I wanted to buy them so bad, but refrained since they just both got a new pair. I'm crossing my fingers for more fun styles come back to school.

Finally, this nursery totally caught my eye. It's not a color palette I would normally lean towards with a girl, but I find this very refreshing. It has all kinds of ideas spinning in my brain.

Now if only I could come up with a name. I am really struggling this time around. It's our third girl, and it's really throwing me for a loop. Any great name suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
