diaper bags.

I'm on the lookout for a great diaper bag. I've gone through quite a few that were cute and somewhat functional, but with baby #3 I need highly functional. Here's what I'm looking for..

*something on the smaller side
*stylish non-feminine look
*usable compartments
*easily accessible
*functional

Recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Pictured bag available here.

  1. This may not be what you're looking for, but I'm a total convert. I don't use one, but instead use a diaper wallet. Of course, I need to hold a couple of more items than diaper and wipes, but I put the wallet in a larger tote for me and throw in a cup or toy or whatever else I need. It totally works!

  2. I just bought the one you have pictured there, the Skip Hop Via, in black. I was deciding between the Via & the Dash & ultimately went with the former because it has more pockets & more room, but I'd go with the Dash if you're looking for smaller. Both look like just normal messenger bags, not frilly diaper bags, which was a selling point for us too because my husband doesn't want to feel like an idiot carrying it around, & both have very functional pocket, including a "parent pocket" for keys, etc.

  3. I adore my Storksak "gigi". I've had it for three years now and it is all of those things you listed. It's actually worth $200 in my opinion. Still getting compliments on it!

  4. i love my diaper backpack. they don't sell the exact one that i have at babies r us any more, but it was cheap, and it's super duper convenient. i bought a couple of cute bags, but i've ended up using the backpack exclusively.

good luck finding what you need!

  5. I have tried a lot of bags with my little girl and finally found one I love and is very functional and with tons of pockets. It is the jujube. I have the be prepared which is big but I am a big bag person. They have a whole bunch of options in all shapes and sizes. It has a special mommy pocket for all of you stuff which is one of my favorite features.

  8. i am a HUGE ju-ju-be fan. i have the between which is small and it is perfect! it has 3 pockets, the mommy pocket which keeps all your things organized, a bigger one that i use for snacks and random stuff, then i put diapers and wipes in the smaller one. in all the pockets are lots of little mesh compartments so it is easy to keep organized. it comes in so many different colors and designs. i have the blue bouquet, but i really love the cinnamon and champagne which i don't think is too feminine looking at all. go on their website, they have little videos for each bag so you can get a really good idea of what they are like.

i also just got the spicy which i am not loving. kind of a weird size. i would either want a smaller one or bigger one. good luck!

  9. ju ju bee "be small" or "between." they are WAY more affordable than some of the other designer diaper bags out there (you can find them for between $60 and $100) and there are TONS of non-girly fabrics to choose from. the pockets in these bags are AMAZING. love, love, love it.

  10. I tried about 6 diaper bags before I settled on the Loom Go Tote. I LOVE it. It's a bit bigger than what you probably want, but they have many options and their products are exceptional. And masculine enough that my husband doesn't mind carrying ours. I also have the Zoom kit which is fabulous because it has a changing pad and all your diapering equipment all in one handy compartment.

They are having a warehouse sale right now:

  12. My last diaper bag was 12 years ago and its crazy how they have changed. They were all pastelly and cutesy then, now they are so utilitarian, which I actually prefer, but with just a tad of flare. I like the style and usefulness of the ones you show but what about a cool pattern? like from etsy maybe, not all solid, thats just me though.

  13. I had an ll bean diaper bag for my last baby. I liked it, but at the time it only came in black. Now they sell the same bag as a travel bag(the touring travel bag). It comes in more colors and 2 sizes. I had the larger one. I never carried much stuff, so I think I would have liked the smaller one better.

  14. a fold up diaper pad thingie (check out skiphop.com for the best ones) inside a cute backpack gives you tons of room for other junk. With back to school shopping starting soon it is prime backpack shopping time!

  15. I have a Timubuk2 cargo tote, size small, for my diaper bag. I LOVE it. Very durable, cute, but not too feminine. You can find them online. Especially good deals on past models can be found at www.reioutlet.com

  16. I am so glad there are stylish diaper bags these days. When I had my twins I used a mens messenger bag. Back 13 years ago diaper bags were horrible.

  17. Ju Ju Be all the way! I am having #3 and I just got another one for this baby because I love it so much. I have the PackaBe which can be a backpack or a bag which I love because when you're chasing a toddler you need hands free. I use every compartment and you can fit a lot in it and it's not too big. You can also wash it in the washer and air dry it.

    Ju Ju Be!!

  18. Another vote for the Storksak - I have the Emily and have no complaints. Lots of pockets, wipable fabric, and so non-diaper-bag-ish My only true baby splurge and completely worth it!

  19. I have a Go Gaga Messenger Bag and I love it! It has lots of compartments and is really cute. I love the insulated pockets on the sides as well.

  22. I splurged on an OiOi for my second baby and Lu-huved it. Mine was black with lime green inside so it wasn't like searching in the black abyss when I needed something inside the bag. Shoulder strap was adjustable. I always got tons of compliments. Now pregnant with my third, I will be pulling my OiOi out of hiding!

  23. I say: go with a stylish oversized purse or a backpack - something you can use past the baby stage. I'm actually using a laptop backpack right now and it works great. It holds a few diapers, a change of clothes, wipes, a snack and an extra pair of underwear for my 2-year-old...and even my laptop. It's quite handy too to have something that I can wear on my back as opposed to having to carry it over my shoulder.

Congrats on your pregnancy, by the way. :)

  25. This is one of my favorites:

    http://www.theshoppingboutique.com/products/JP_Lizzy_Spearmint_Dots_Messenger_Bag-263-3.html

Not too feminine, and it doubles as a laptop bag when I don't need it as a diaper bag. It's not huge, but has enough room to carry everything I need. Plus, it's on sale, so it doesn't cost an outrageous amount!
