One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish!

I am so excited and honored that Brittany asked me to guest post on my son's 2nd birthday!

For my son's second birthday, I decided to take off from his current book obsessed: Dr. Seuss' One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. He brings it to me what seems like 126 times a day to be read. It was a no brainer that this would be the theme for his little party.

Last year, I relied on Etsy a lot for his party decor, so I decided to go back this year. I used the amazing seller, Party on Boutique, for the invitation and cupcake toppers…
We had the party at a park and instead of tablecloths, I actually wrapped the picnic tables in fun wrapping I found at Paper Source. It tied in with the theme perfectly. To add a personal touch, I framed a few of my son's 2-year pictures and had them displayed on the tables.
For an added treat, I made some candy coated marshmellow pops. Very simple and very easy. Just put marshmellows on a lollipop stick, melt some candy melts, dip the pop in the melts, dip in sprinkles, and wala! I displayed them in some mason jars filled with swedish fish. They were fun and the kids loved them.
When it came to favors, I always love to do something a little different or unique. I found an awesome seller on Etsy, Brown Bag Bath Bars, that makes homemade soaps. She offered to make red and blue, fish shaped, scented soaps. She even threw in some personalized favor tags!
By the end of this post, you will see that I have a small addiction to Etsy. When it came down to what the birthday boy was going to wear, I knew I wanted something that reflected his big number 2. Picadilly Circus Designs did his shirt and I just loved it.
We didn't really need to plan any activities, since the party was at the park. The kids ran, jumped, skipped and played before it was time to sing Happy Birthday to the little boy of the hour.
By the end of the day, the birthday boy was exhausted and ready to head home for naps. It was such a perfect day and we already can't wait for next year!

bowling/candy party.

My sister in law throws an amazing party. Sadly this is the first one we missed, but she promised me she'd take lots of pictures and she came through!

She asked Sawyer what he wanted to do for his 4th birthday, his answer "a candy bowling party". That may seem tricky, but Kelly did a great job.

The guests first met in their backyard for cake and ice cream, and plenty of candy for the guests to take home.

The close up details. Every detail was perfect (including the birthday boys matching shirt). After cake, ice cream, candy and presents the guests headed over to the local bowling alley for some bowling fun.

At the end of the day Kelly asked Sawyer what the best part of his day had been, his answer "everything". I think he's right. His mom did a pretty great job.

Someday we'll live next to each other again and start our own party planning business.

I have three boys. While planning our most recent party, I wanted to do something different because we've already done every single super hero party, legos, star wars and all the typical little boy themed parties. My son loves to play games. I took his love for games and turned it into a super easy birthday party.

The invitation.

These tickets went a long way.
I bought these at Zurcher's for about $3.00.
Best three bucks I've ever spent!



I used the tickets to wrap around the party favor bag.
In the bag were games and candy for the kids to take home.



I bought 3 decks of childrens playing cards at Walgreens ($6 total) and stapled them to a white ribbon to make a banner. I also strung some of the tickets above the table.



I used game boards, the party favors and cupcakes as table decorations.



I used scrabble letters to spell out "Happy Birthday, Parker."




I also put each child's initial at a place setting.
The kids loved trying to look for the first letter in their name.



I set out dice, letters and cards from games so that the kids had something to do while they were waiting for cupcakes and ice cream. They loved this and actually thought this was one of the game stations.





We had the boys do a few different game stations.

Basketball
{they also played saucer scramble and random board games that I had set up in the family room}.



My son absolutely loved the party and so did all his friends!

color week: YELLOW! {brilliant birthday bash}

Hello everyone!

This is Stephanie Ford; mom of two, author of a little blog about our lives called Simply Radiant, and designer of the Pop line at Sycamore Street Press. I feel so honored to be invited to do a guest post because I've been a long time reader of Tangled and True! Since today's color is yellow, Brittany invited me to tell you about a party I threw last year for my son's second birthday. To be honest, I had other plans in mind for the party, but my son told everyone who mentioned his birthday that he was going to have a yellow party, and I didn't want to disappoint so yellow party it was.

I started out with putting together simple yellow invitations.

The inside pulled out to reveal party details.
I made small yellow bunting and hung it all of the house the day of the party.
and I slipped yellow scrapbooking paper and pictures of my son with a yellow mustache over the artwork that we already had hanging up. Then of course, we had yellow mustaches for all the guests to join in the fun.
We asked all the guests to wear yellow and told them there would be a prize for the person wearing the most yellow. We have some pretty competitive family members and they really went all out, which made the party a lot of fun.

We served all yellow food and individual peach pies for dessert (because my son requested pie)
Since all the guests were adults, I tried to come up with something fun for them to do at the party so we set up a photobooth in the hallway.
It turned out that our son loved the photobooth most of all and ended up in almost all of the photos. I love that he has photos like these with my dad and my mom to remember the party by.

milk and cookies party

Hi, I'm Anne from A. Party Style. I am honored Brittany asked me to be a guest blogger today! Brittany, thanks for this opportunity!

For my daughters first birthday, I had a milk and cookies party. Who doesn't love a tall glass of milk and a yummy cookie, right!? Kids and adults alike. And since first birthday's are usually a lot of adults, I thought the theme would work great.
