Halloween is OVER!! I made two of the three costumes this year.
The inspiration for the owl came from alphamom.
The inspiration for the flamingo came from a friend.

ReplyDeleteThose are all so fabulous! I especially love the pettiskirt on the flamingo!
ReplyDeleteLove the flamingo! Can you tell me where you found those large pink feathers, and how you adhered them to the back of the shirt? tjmedwards[at]netzero[dot]net
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI found the feathers at hobby lobby. I am sure if you searched pink ostrich feathers you might be able to find something similar if you don't have a hobby lobby near you.
as for securing them, I got a piece of floral foam, painted it hot pink and hot glued the wire stems of the feathers into the foam. I sewed some velcro onto the back of her shirt and glued the other half of it to the styrofoam, so it velcro-ed on and then tucked into the pettiskirt to reinforce. i hope this makes sense. let me know if you have any other questions.

ReplyDeleteLove the flamingo costume!!! My daughter has been asking to be a flamingo for Halloween, and I am totally going to steal this idea. Any tips?? And what did you use for the flamingo eyes & beak & how did you secure them to the hat??
ReplyDeleteokay, so my daughter wants to be a flamingo for halloween this year and I found your costume. It is the best one I have seen out there. Can you give me any pointers and tips on how to make it. Especially the hat and the back feathers.
ReplyDeletelove it!
thanks
I just started looking for halloween costume ideas on Pinterest and saw your daughter in her pink flamingo costume and I totally LOVE it! I've decided that's what I'm going to be, and I was wondering how you put the hat together? I see that it's a pink beanie, but how did you make the beak and attach it to the beanie? Also, where did you get the pink tutu?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
