It's Friday! And that means a giveaway {through Monday}. I'm jazzed about today, actually. I fell in love with KLT: Works months ago when we first started this blog.

So, readers, I give you a Q&A with Kristin Loffer Theiss...

Where did you go to school?
I went to the School of Visual Arts in NYC after receiving my undergrad at Central Washington University.

When did you first learn to "create?"
My mother sewed most of my clothing when I was young. Even then I had a clear idea of my aesthetic. I never wanted bows or lace- just clean lines and form following function. I was a modern kid through and through. I always enjoyed looking at fabric and making strange outfits and furniture for my Barbie’s too. As odd as it sounds, I also learned to create by being a big sister. I made so many things to entertain my brother. We had agreat, active, imaginary playtime. We had a playroom with a wall painted with chalkboard paint- for endless drawing and great set design possibilities. Creating things was also a way of problem solving and learning over the years.

Note to self: Chalkboard paint = cool

What are your favorite "tunes" to listen to while in the studio?
I am a music junkie. I listen to my ipod 24/7 and it is full of a wide variety of music. These 3 are constantly favorites and great to work to in the studio: Rufus Wainwright, Be Good Tanyas and Django Rienhardt. Artists that have been getting played a lot lately are: Joe Purdy, Brett Dennen and Sufjan Stevens.

Sidenote: We love these bands too!

Who is your personal favorite plush character?
If I were to pick a favorite, it might be Ollie the Owl. But, I am quite enamored with Lou and Louise Snail too. They completely crack me up. I really like all of them, but those are my top two.

Personal Memo: My favorite is Dewey Long Legs. Kelli's favorite is Ollie the Owl.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know about KLT:Works?
I guess it would be good for people to know that KLT: Works is a very small business. It is really just me that does everything. Everything is made by hand with a lot of care to attention and detail.

Sidenote: We love small business, especially one's run by women!

Down-to-earth and totally personable...if you are ever in the Northwest, please drop her a line. She'd be one to meet you at the local coffee shop. The best news of all? Kristin recently found out that she is expecting. Her first! Congratulations to Kristin on her upcoming arrival!
